EMERGE | Latest Updates

EMERGE recent activities have continued to connect energy modelling, policy dialogue and innovation across the project’s African pilot regions.

In Morocco, EMERGE shared the outcomes of the Policy Lab and second Africa-to-Africa Study Visit, hosted on 24–25 June at Mohammed First University in Oujda. Policymakers, researchers, industry and international organisations explored how the EMERGE Toolbox and integrated energy modelling can support evidence-based decisions and Morocco’s energy transition.

In Mozambique, recent stakeholder engagement has focused on adapting EMERGE tools to local realities and translating modelling results into practical policy recommendations. The work will contribute to the Clean Energy Transition Roadmap for Mozambique.

Meanwhile, the EMERGE Hackathon is engaging young innovators across Morocco, Mozambique and Mali in developing practical clean-energy solutions, with the top teams advancing to the Final EMERGE Hackathon in Maputo in October 2026.

The project will culminate on 23 November 2026 with the hybrid EMERGE Final Event – “Empowering Africa’s Green Future: Results, Policy Roadmaps and Digital Solutions from EMERGE Project”, hosted at LNEG in Lisbon as part of the 7th ESEIA International Conference.

The event will showcase EMERGE’s final results, the EMERGE Toolbox, results from the pilot sites, policy recommendations and clean energy transition roadmaps, while exploring how these outcomes can support future EU–Africa energy cooperation and be replicated across African regions.
