Over the past months, EMERGE has advanced policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement and innovation activities across its African pilot regions, while preparing for a series of final project events in autumn 2026.

On 3 June, the 3rd EMERGE Co-design Workshop took place in Maputo, Mozambique, bringing stakeholders together to provide feedback on the project’s energy modelling tools. This was followed by the Mozambique Policy Lab on 10 June.

The EMERGE Hackathon series also progressed across the African pilot regions, with activities in Morocco, Mozambique and Mali, leading towards the final hackathon in Maputo.

On 24 June, the Morocco Policy Lab took place in Oujda, alongside the 2nd AU–AU Study Visit on 24–25 June. On 30 July, an online Policy Lab dedicated to Mali brought stakeholders together to discuss and validate policy recommendations.

Looking ahead, EMERGE experts will contribute to the 19th ESEIA Lecture – Energy System Modelling for Green Africa on 8 October 2026, followed by the presentation of the EMERGE roadmap by Abdulrahim Shuaibu-Issah, AfriLabs, at ECEMP 2026 on 21–22 October.

The 3rd EMERGE General Assembly will take place from 26–30 October in Maputo, Mozambique. African partners will travel to Tete for the AU–AU exchange on 27–28 October, while the wider consortium will gather in Maputo on 30 October for the General Assembly and final hackathon.

The project’s final event will take place on 23 November 2026 in Lisbon, as part of the 7th ESEIA International Conference, showcasing EMERGE results, tools, policy roadmaps and pathways for future EU–Africa energy cooperation.
