Over the past three months, the INITIATE project has advanced its replication activities, continued knowledge exchange on sustainable campuses, and prepared for key project milestones taking place later this year.

Following the successful implementation of the initial R&I and Policy Labs, INITIATE moved forward with the replication phase. Five replicator cases — CYI, VINCA, LPNU, UTB and NURE — are contributing to the further adaptation of the INITIATE approach across different national and institutional contexts.

On 16 September, INITIATE held the webinar The Path to Sustainable Campuses: Challenges and Opportunities as a pre-conference event of ECIE 2026. The session explored how universities can advance campus sustainability, with a focus on energy demand, institutional action and the development of sustainable campus networks.

During this period, partners also continued preparations for the INITIATE General Assembly, which will take place in Nicosia on 11–12 November 2026.

Looking ahead, INITIATE will host the dedicated hybrid session “Building Stronger R&I Ecosystems: Early Results from the INITIATE Pilot Sites” on 24 November 2026 as part of the 7th ESEIA International Conference in Lisbon. Pilot owners UKIM, UNIZAG and ISCTE will share experiences and key insights from implementing the R&I and Policy Labs, while invited sister projects will contribute additional perspectives on strengthening R&I ecosystems and institutional transformation.
