The Cyprus Institute Co-Organises Workshop to Discuss Progress of Green Transition Through Solar Energy
On 1 December 2023, The Cyprus Institute joined forces with the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, the Embassy of Spain in Cyprus, and the Commissioner of the Environment to organise a workshop to assess and discuss the progress made so far in fulfilling the EU’s green transition objectives.
Titled Progressing in Green Transition: Advancing the Clean Energy Agenda Through Industrial Applications of Solar Energy, the workshop brought together different stakeholders to explore strategies and solutions to further propel the EU towards a low-carbon future, with a particular emphasis on the potential use of solar energy in industrial applications. Among the attendees was the Speaker of the House of Representatives in Cyprus Annita Demetriou; the Commissioner for the Environment of Cyprus Maria Panayiotou; the Head of the European Commission Delegation in Cyprus Myrto Zambarta; and the Ambassador of Spain to Cyprus Gabriel Ferrán Carrión.
In addition to highlighting the collaborative efforts between Spain, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU, and Cyprus in areas such as policy, technology, know-how, and applications, the event showcased projects implemented in Cyprus by local research organisations and companies.
