New Member | Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, Finland, joins ESEIA
The European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance – ESEIA is pleased to welcome Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), Finland, as its newest member.
Located in the heart of EnergyVaasa, the largest energy technology cluster in the Nordic countries, VAMK brings extensive expertise in applied research, education and innovation that supports Europe’s clean energy transition. Through close collaboration with industry, public authorities and international partners, the university develops practical solutions that accelerate the deployment of sustainable energy technologies and strengthen regional and European competitiveness.
VAMK’s research, development and innovation (RDI) activities focus on strategic themes including energy transition, smart digitalisation and the clean transition, combining multidisciplinary expertise in engineering, business, design and social sciences. Working closely with companies and communities, the university transforms research into practical applications that respond to real societal and industrial challenges.
VAMK is actively involved in international research and innovation projects addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the energy sector. Recent initiatives include projects on flexible energy systems integration, offshore renewable energy and hydrogen, data-driven energy optimisation, and future sustainable energy technologies in Africa, reflecting the university’s commitment to international cooperation and practical solutions for the green transition.
Beyond research, VAMK places a strong emphasis on educating the next generation of energy professionals. Its programmes in renewable energy, smart power grids, carbon neutrality and energy storage are closely connected to industry and supported by advanced laboratory facilities, providing students with practical skills and direct engagement with one of Europe’s leading energy technology ecosystems.
