EUSEW 2026 Highlights the Need for Collaboration Across Europe’s Energy Ecosystem

From 9–11 June 2026, policymakers, researchers, industry representatives, and innovators gathered in Brussels and online for the 20th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), held under the theme “A Clean, Secure and Competitive Energy Union.” The event provided a platform to discuss Europe’s energy security, industrial competitiveness, renewable energy deployment, innovation, and skills development.

A key message emerging from EUSEW 2026 was the importance of stronger collaboration across sectors and borders to accelerate the clean energy transition. Discussions highlighted the need to connect research, innovation, policy, and market deployment in order to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and achieve its climate ambitions.

As part of EUSEW 2026, ESEIA Member Energie Steiermark AG, together with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), co-organised the EU Funding and Policy Exchange Event on 10 June in Brussels. Bringing together representatives from research, industry, and public authorities, the event provided a platform for discussions on European funding opportunities, policy developments, and cross-sector collaboration.
