Project Overview
Project Description
The goals of the project are:
• Testing innovative approaches for decarbonization in the municipalities of Kranj, Ljubljana and Velenje in various areas.
• Systemic changes in the management and leadership structure in all three cities, which will contribute to greater efficiency, transparency and responsiveness on the way to climate neutrality. While in Kranj we will focus primarily on traffic de-cluttering, in the Municipality of Ljubljana they will focus on the use of excess heat in high-temperature systems (industry, transformers, data centers, sewerage, etc.). It is one of the measures of the local energy concept and an additional layer in the energy climate atlas of Ljubljana. In the Municipality of Velenje, they will try to reduce carbon emissions resulting from thermal energy consumption in public buildings and residential facilities with the help of a data management tool (building insulation, year of renovation and construction, potential of renewable energy sources, etc.).
• The project also envisages the establishment of single points for citizens in all three cities, the purpose of which is awareness and education, counseling, a training ground for the development of ideas, holding events and workshops, and cooperation. In the Municipality of Kranj with a digital platform and MaaS application, in the Municipality of Ljubljana with an innovation junction and in the Municipality of Velenje with the Energy and Climate Office. Citizens and non-governmental organizations will be invited to co-create the content of the single points.
• Transfer of knowledge and experience of project results at the local, national and European level.
• Collaboration and co-creation with citizens in disseminating the results of the project leading to decarbonization and the goals of the Mission 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.
