20th SET Plan Conference: Shaping Europe’s Strategic Energy Technologies
The 20th Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) Conference will take place on 4–5 November 2026 in Cork, Ireland, organised by the European Commission and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026. This milestone edition will mark 20 years of SET Plan conferences and focus on strengthening the competitiveness and sovereignty of European strategic energy technologies.
Bringing together EU and national policymakers, investors, industry and research stakeholders, the conference will explore how clean energy technologies can contribute to affordability, competitiveness, energy security and resilience in Europe. The programme will address topics including energy system transformation, industrial decarbonisation, clean energy manufacturing, sustainable heating and cooling, startups and scaleups, and the role of AI and digitalisation in energy systems.
ESEIA is actively contributing to the evolution of the SET Plan. ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend leads the SET Plan Cross-Cutting Task Force 5 on Access to Market, working with SET Plan stakeholder groups to address challenges and solutions related to bringing clean energy innovations to market.
The conference therefore provides an important opportunity for the ESEIA community to follow the next priorities of the SET Plan and the future direction of European clean energy research, innovation and market uptake.
