INITIATE Knowledge Base & Investment Advisor Tool

Supporting Institutional Transformation and Sustainable Energy Decisions

As part of its commitment to strengthening research and innovation capacity across Europe, ESEIA is proud to highlight the launch of two innovative digital platforms developed within the INITIATE project: the INITIATE Knowledge Base and the Investment Advisor Tool.

These freely accessible online tools are now available to universities, research institutions, policymakers, and stakeholders across Europe, with a special focus on supporting Widening countries in their journey toward enhanced research and innovation capacity.

INITIATE Knowledge Base serves as a comprehensive digital repository bringing together essential resources for institutional transformation in one accessible location. Users can explore demonstration site reports showcasing real-world implementation examples, participate in surveys to share insights and contribute to shaping future policies, and search and filter content by country and thematic area to find relevant information quickly. The Knowledge Base provides the documentation and insights needed to drive meaningful change.

Investment Advisor Tool empowers institutions to make informed decisions about renewable energy investments. This user-friendly tool helps evaluate renewable energy systems including solar panels, wind turbines, battery storage, and heat pumps, understand financial viability with clear information on costs, savings, and return on investment, calculate potential carbon emission reductions, and explore location-specific scenarios tailored to an institution’s geographical context. With a simple step-by-step interface, the Investment Advisor makes sophisticated energy system analysis accessible to everyone—no technical expertise required.

The platforms have been developed by BRAINIT through close collaboration with the three pilot institutions—the University of Zagreb (Croatia), ISCTE-IUL (Portugal), and Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (North Macedonia)—ensuring they address real institutional needs and challenges.

Together, these platforms directly support the INITIATE project’s mission to strengthen research and innovation ecosystems and accelerate sustainable institutional transformation across Europe.
