Call for Papers | CSE 2026 – Energy Communities, 29–31 October 2026, Brasov, Romania
ESEIA proudly supports the 8th Conference for Sustainable Energy (CSE 2026) and contributes to advancing research and dialogue in sustainable energy systems.
Organised by our valued member, Universitatea Transilvania din Brasov – UTBV, RO, the conference will take place from 29 to 31 October 2026 in Brasov, Romania, bringing together researchers, academics, industry experts and PhD candidates active in the field of renewable energy systems and sustainable communities.
We are also pleased to announce that the ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend will participate as a key speaker, contributing to the discussion on cross-sector innovation and the future of energy communities in Europe. Further programme details will be announced soon.
The 8th edition of CSE opens the floor to new research results, innovative concepts and forward-looking solutions dedicated to Energy Communities.
Energy communities are increasingly recognised as key instruments for decentralising and democratising energy production across Europe. By enabling citizens, local authorities and organisations to produce, manage and consume renewable energy collectively, these initiatives contribute directly to resilience, local value creation and energy transition goals.
As of early 2024, more than 9,000 energy communities are active in the European Union, involving over 1.5 million citizens. Community-led initiatives are therefore becoming a central pillar in the transition towards a just, participatory and fully renewable energy system.
CSE 2026 will explore the technological, social, regulatory and systemic dimensions of energy communities, contributing to the broader European dialogue on sustainable energy transformation.
