ESEIA publishes its Annual Report 2025

ESEIA has released its Annual Report 2025, highlighting a year of impact in sustainable energy research, innovation, education and policy engagement across Europe.

From EU-funded projects and institutional reform to education, training and policy engagement, ESEIA strengthened its role as a European alliance for sustainable energy systems innovation, expanding its membership to include organisations from the United Kingdom and North Macedonia.

The year marked a major milestone with the successful acquisition of the Horizon Europe ToFuel Project, securing €3.5 million R&I funding for advancing sustainable aviation fuel solutions.

The report also showcases ESEIA’s continued contribution to EU-funded initiatives, contributing to the INITIATE project on higher education reform and the EMERGE project on energy system modelling in African Union countries, both of which successfully passed their mid-term reviews in 2025.

Education and capacity-building remained central, with five training events delivered, engaging 149 participants from21 countries through the ESEIA Lecture Series and the ESEIA International Summer School.

As the ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend put it, ‘ESEIA has become a highly impactful European thematic Alliance in recent years.’
