UKIM FEEIT – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, North Macedonia, to join ESEIA as a New Member

ESEIA is pleased to welcome UKIM FEEIT – Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT), Republic of North Macedonia, as a new member organisation. As a leading higher education institution (HEI) from a widening country, UKIM FEEIT strengthens ESEIA’s commitment to expanding collaboration and capacity building across Europe, particularly in regions with high innovation potential and strategic relevance for the EU’s energy transition.

The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (UKIM) is the first state university in North Macedonia, founded in 1949. Today, UKIM represents a functional academic community of 21 faculties, 5 research institutes and 11 associated members, developing curricula across all scientific fields, social, technical, natural sciences, mathematics, medical, biotechnical sciences and arts, while conducting research at both faculty and institute levels.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) is the most prestigious higher education institution in the country in its field.

UKIM FEEIT also plays an important role in European research and innovation. The Faculty:

  • Runs 10+ R&I projects annually,
  • Actively participates in Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Interreg,
  • Hosts the Energy Living Lab and the INNOFEIT Centre, which support applied research, industry cooperation and innovation in clean energy systems

UKIM FEEIT is involved in the INITIATE HORIZON EUROPE project, demonstrating the INITIATE approach through the FEEIT Pilot, implementing and running the INITIATE Knowledge Base, and contributing to strengthening institutional R&I capacity and supporting the development of the innovation ecosystem. ESEIA and UKIM have already showcased strong collaboration in WP4, implementations of R&I Labs, and we are looking forward to this collaboration also growing in ESEIA.

By joining ESEIA, UKIM FEEIT from a widening country brings valuable expertise in digitalisation and decarbonisation of energy, reinforcing ESEIA’s pan-European network and supporting broader EU efforts to strengthen research integration, regional inclusion and sustainable energy innovation. We warmly welcome Vladimir Gjorgievski, who will be the administrator with the vote on the ESEIA GA and Dimitar Tashkovski, who will serve as the main project contact person.

We look forward to a productive cooperation with the UKIM FEEIT team!
