Strengthening the ESEIA Community: Member Integration and Acquisition Update
Building a strong and engaged membership community remains a key priority for ESEIA. During the second quarter of 2026, the Alliance continued its efforts to strengthen relationships with existing members while actively expanding its network across academia, research, and industry.
Supporting Member Integration
Several dedicated activities were carried out between April and June to foster closer engagement with ESEIA members and ensure they benefit from the opportunities offered by the Alliance.
In April 2026, ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend met with the Rectorate of TU Graz, AT to present ESEIA’s recent activities and achievements, including highlights from the Annual Report 2025. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss future collaboration and reinforce the strong connection between ESEIA and one of its founding members.
In May, an online member integration meeting was held with representatives of Tyndall National Institute’s Irish Energy Research Centre (IERC), including Padraig Lyons and Shafi Khadem. The discussion focused on identifying opportunities for deeper engagement within ESEIA’s activities and exploring potential areas for collaboration.
In June, an online member integration meeting was held with Macedon Moldovan and Maria Covei from UTBv, RO. The meeting focused on strengthening the university’s engagement within the ESEIA network and exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
Expanding the Alliance
Alongside integration activities, ESEIA continued its member acquisition efforts. Between April and June 2026, six acquisition meetings were conducted with prospective members, including three academic institutions, two research organisations, and one business representative.
The successful General Assembly meeting of the Horizon Europe project INITIATE, held in Belgrade, provided an excellent opportunity for ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend to meet project partners and representatives of other organisations interested in joining the Alliance. These face-to-face discussions helped further raise awareness of ESEIA’s mission and the benefits of membership.
As a direct result of these efforts, the Vaasa University of Applied Sciences in Finland decided to join ESEIA, further strengthening the Alliance’s presence in the Nordic region and expanding its network of higher education institutions committed to sustainable energy innovation.
