EU Elections 2024: Results

Voters across Europe went to polls this June to make their voices heard in the 2024 European Parliament elections. On June 9, 2024, the European People’s Party, led by Ursula von der Leyen, secured the most seats in the European Parliament. In contrast, the pro-EU centrist, liberal, and environmentalist parties experienced significant losses. Meanwhile, anti-EU right-wing populist parties made substantial gains. The right-wing European Conservatives and Reformists group surpassed the centrist Renew Europe group to claim the third-highest number of seats.

Elections for the European Parliament, the world’s only directly elected transnational governing body, are held every five years and are managed by national governments. In June 2024, 720 members of parliament were elected, 15 more than in the previous elections.
