ESEIA Meeting with Savonia UAS | Member Integration
On 10 November 2025, ESEIA held an online meeting with Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Savonia UAS), FI, to strengthen cooperation, align strategic priorities, and explore new opportunities for joint engagement in ESEIA activities and upcoming EU-funded initiatives.
Savonia UAS is a highly active member of the Alliance, with strong expertise in bio and circular economy, machinery and energy systems, water safety, sustainable societies, and education and training. Its experts contribute across WG1, WG2, WG4, and WG5, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy innovation.
ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend provided an overview of current ESEIA activities, including the Education and Training Programme, the call selection 2026, and ongoing collaboration with Savonia UAS. She also expressed gratitude to Markku Huhtinen for his continued service as ESEIA Vice-President. Jarno Ruusunen, R&D Manager at Savonia UAS, presented current R&I activities from the Savonia UAS Machinery and Energy department.
Participants also reflected on the successful 6th ESEIA International Conference, held in Kuopio in 2024 and organised by Savonia UAS in cooperation with ESEIA, Energy Cluster North Savo, and the ÄLLITÄ project, which was chaired by Jarno Ruusunen. The event brought together 70 participants, 27 presentations, and 10 thematic sessions. To build on this experience, an exchange with ESEIA member LNEG, PT, host of the forthcoming 7th ESEIA International Conference, will be pursued.
Moving forward, Savonia UAS will aim to contribute additional experts to ESEIA Working Groups to ensure strong participation in future calls and consortia. The institution’s engagement is supported by 21 contact persons, including 9 Working Group members.
