ESEIA International Summer School 2025: Circular Economy in Industry

The European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance (ESEIA) is pleased to announce the 2025 edition of its International Summer School (ISS), focusing on “Circular Economy in Industry.” This immersive, on-site program will take place from 22 to 26 September 2025 at the renowned :metabolon Research and Education Center in Lindlar, Germany. Hosted by the Bergischer Abfallwirtschaftsverband (BAV) in collaboration with TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, the ISS offers a unique opportunity to explore sustainable industrial practices in a real-world setting.

Program Highlights

Set against the backdrop of the transformed Leppe landfill, now a hub for innovation in waste management and circular economy practices, the ISS will delve into:

  • Utilization of resources from waste and innovative technologies for sustainable materials.
  • Socio-economic implications, business models, legal frameworks, spatial planning considerations, user acceptance, and the integration of Bauhaus aesthetics in sustainable industry.
  • Real-world applications through the :metabolon project, showcasing the transformation of waste into valuable resources within a waste management company.

Teaching Methods

Participants will engage in:

  • On-site lectures and team-teaching sessions.
  • Supervised group work and presentations.
  • Site visits to BAV facilities and exploration of the :metabolon center.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.
