The second AU-EU Exchange follows on 19-21 May 2025, in Zaragoza, Spain. EMERGE has also made significant progress, submitting 7 out of 16 deliverables, advancing renewable integration and policy frameworks.
EMERGE kicked off the year with the first AU-EU Exchange Event, held in Paris from 28-31 January 2025. The event brought together African and European energy experts to discuss energy planning and renewable integration. Hosted by Artelys, who provided the training, participants from AfriLabs, ECREEE, UMP, and UEM took part in hands-on workshops focused on CEPIA and METRIX—tools developed by Artelys for energy analysis, sectoral policy modeling, and power grid security.
A visit to a waste-to-energy plant highlighted practical applications of sustainable energy solutions in urban infrastructure. The event strengthened AU-EU collaboration and equipped participants with the skills needed to advance energy planning and sustainability across Africa.
