Announcing the 7th ESEIA International Conference and ESEIA Business Meetings in Lisbon, Portugal
Join us in Lisbon, Portugal, for the 7th ESEIA International Conference, hosted by LNEG, on 23–25 November 2026. Kicking off with the ESEIA General Assembly on 23 November, the conference offers a unique back-to-back experience for the entire Alliance. Dive into the latest in sustainable aviation fuels, clean energy systems modelling, bio-based construction materials, and Europe’s evolving regulatory and business landscapes. Beyond the sessions, enjoy a technical visit to one of Europe’s largest algae production facilities, participate in dedicated Working Group and project team meetings, and explore exhibitions and start-up showcases.
Hosted by ESEIA member, LNEG, one of Portugal’s leading research institutions in energy and geology, the 7th ESEIA International Conference will once again bring together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, and innovators from across Europe and beyond. This edition is shaped around the working theme “Green Energy Solutions” reflecting both the progress made and the challenges that remain in Europe’s clean energy transition. The programme will draw directly from ESEIA’s ongoing projects and strategic priorities, addressing some of the most pressing topics in sustainable energy today.
Sessions will explore sustainable aviation fuels and the role of bio-based innovation in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors, clean energy systems modelling and its contribution to evidence-based policy, market access for clean energy technologies, and bio-based and fabricated materials for the construction sector. Governance, business models, regulatory innovation, partnerships and capacity-building will serve as cross-cutting threads woven throughout the programme.
“This edition of the ESEIA International Conference comes at a critical moment for Europe’s energy transition. The conversations we have in Lisbon, between researchers, industry and policymakers, are exactly the kind of cross-sector dialogue that turns knowledge into action. I look forward to welcoming our members and partners to Portugal for what promises to be our most impactful edition yet.” — Brigitte Hasewend, ESEIA Director
Participants at the 7th ESEIA International Conference will have the opportunity to join a technical visit to one of the largest algae production facilities in Europe, a unique look at cutting-edge bio-based solutions in action.
