ESEIA General Assembly in Lisbon, 23 November 2026 | Members Meet On Site Alongside the 7th ESEIA Conference

This year, the ESEIA General Assembly and Business meetings are dedicated to adopting the ESEIA Work Programme and Budget 2027, open the 7th ESEIA Conference, followed by three project events that bring the Alliance’s ongoing work directly to the conference stage. The 7th ESEIA Conference – Green Energy Solutions: Current and Future Trends  takes place in Lisbon from 23 to 25 November 2026, hosted by LNEG at its Campus do Lumiar.

ESEIA Business Meetings | Monday, 23 November

The conference week opens with the ESEIA Business Meetings, which are dedicated to adopting the ESEIA Work Programme and Budget 2027.

10:00 – 11:00 | Governing Council Meeting 11:00 – 13:00 | General Assembly Meeting  (for ESEIA members only)

The General Assembly will include a contribution by Manuel Heitor on “The Role of European HEIs in the Twin Transitions.”

Manuel Heitor is a professor at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the engineering school at the University of Lisbon. He served as Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education for the Government of Portugal in 2015–2022 and as Secretary of State from 2005 to 2011. In 2023 he was appointed by the European Commission to chair the Expert group for the interim evaluation of the Horizon Europe programme and to guide the evolution of the European Research and Innovation (R&I) Framework programme.

The General Assembly is the Alliance’s decision-making forum. Meeting on site gives members the opportunity to discuss the direction of ESEIA’s activities for the coming year face to face the work programme priorities, the budget, and the strategic positioning of the Alliance in the context of the European Clean Industrial Deal and the next EU R&I funding period.

It is also, simply, the moment when the network is in one room: 22 member organisations, higher education institutions, research organisations and businesses, with the chance to talk about joint proposals, working group activities, and collaboration opportunities outside the formal agenda.

The conference programme also hosts three events from the EU-funded projects in which ESEIA is leading dissemination and communication, offering members direct access to the results and to the stakeholder communities behind them.

  • ToFuel 1st Stakeholder Workshop Monday, 23 November | 16:30
  • EMERGE Final Event Monday, 23 November | 18:00
  • INITIATE R&I Session Tuesday, 24 November | 10:45

Together with the keynote lectures, the start-up session and the poster session, these events make the Lisbon programme an efficient use of three days: dissemination, scientific exchange and networking in a single trip.
