INITIATE Project | Latest Updates
The INITIATE Horizon Europe project has made significant progress over the last quarter toward achieving its objectives. Most recently, the consortium gathered in Zagreb, Croatia, for the 3rd General Assembly (GA) Meeting. During the meeting, partners presented their work carried out over the previous six months, along with an overview of achievements across all work packages. The GA was followed by the 9th and final R&I Lab, hosted by the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (UNIZAG FSB).
3rd INITIATE General Assembly
The 3rd General Assembly meeting was hosted by the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, from 9–11 December 2025. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all partners for their active participation and to our hosts for their warm welcome and excellent hospitality. Over three highly productive days, partners presented progress across seven work packages and discussed upcoming activities and next steps. As the consortium is preparing for the first project review meeting, this GA was particularly important for highlighting key accomplishments and success stories.
Among the recent highlights, partners from UNIZAG FSB and BrainIT successfully developed a web-based Investment Advisor Tool and organized a dedicated workshop to demonstrate its use. The tool supports the assessment of both profitability and environmental impacts of renewable energy and energy storage systems and is publicly accessible via the INITIATE website.
WP4 Achievements
WP4 is progressing with great success, in 2025, the consortium implemented nine R&I Labs across three pilot sites, submitted Deliverable D4.1 – Report on the Co-design Approach for User Engagement, and prepared the first set of policy recommendations based on initial piloting results and stakeholder feedback. WP4 is a highly collaborative work package. Through its activities, the project engaged over 250 participants, analyzed more than 40 joint research topics, and delivered over 20 expert talks, workshops, and panel discussions. As a next step, ESEIA will organize the final R&I Lab webinar to present the key findings from the implemented labs. This event will involve the full consortium and will also be open to sister projects. Additionally, in 2026 replicators of the R&I Labs will be planned and implemented in Cyprus, Belgrade, Romania and Ukraine.
T6.2 Achievements
Task 6.2, Networking and Connection to Other Activities, led by ESEIA, has also progressed successfully. Throughout the project, INITIATE partners have jointly organized and participated in 22 events, collectively reaching more than 1,500 participants and significantly enhancing the project’s visibility among academia, industry, and policymakers. As a next step, ESEIA will organize the 17th Lecture Series in collaboration with the INITIATE project.
