Battery Innovation Days 2025

Battery Innovation Days 2025: Advancing Europe’s Battery Value Chain

The fifth edition of Battery Innovation Days (BID 2025) was held in Graz, Austria, bringing together Europe’s battery community for two days of discussions on research, innovation, and development across the entire European battery value chain. The programme addressed key topics including sustainable sourcing of materials, battery innovation, energy security, Europe’s defence capabilities, and the role of AI, reflecting the strategic importance of batteries for Europe’s competitiveness and resilience. ESEIA member TU Graz was among the academic institutions participating, contributing to knowledge exchange across Europe’s battery research and innovation ecosystem.

Hosted by the Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG) and co-organised by Battery 2030+, BEPA, and the IPCEI battery initiatives, the event highlighted the growing momentum behind a strong European battery ecosystem. The next edition of Battery Innovation Days will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, on 11–12 November 2026.

The themes addressed at Battery Innovation Days 2025 closely align with ESEIA’s mission to accelerate sustainable energy innovation, particularly in areas such as energy storage, clean energy value chains, and industry–research collaboration. Events like BID play a key role in strengthening the European innovation ecosystem in which ESEIA and its members actively contribute.
