The INITIATE Project, in collaboration with ESEIA, is driving significant advancements in European research and innovation. In 23-25 October, project partners gathered at ISCTE in Lisbon for the first General Assembly.
The event featured engaging presentations that showcased the achievements from the project’s first nine months, including key findings and progress. Looking ahead, the partners also outlined plans for future activities, strengthening the project’s commitment to fostering sustainable solutions across Europe.
ESEIA has successfully submitted the first deliverable of the INITIATE Project: D1.2 report on Policy Barriers and Requirements, written by the ESEIA Director Brigitte Hasewend in cooperation with Paula Vincente, ISCTE with a preface by ESEIA President Brian Norton. This deliverable examines key policy barriers and requirements in Widening Countries, offering insights to support the green and digital transition.
As part of this effort, ESEIA analyzed 20 best practice cases, assessing their relevance and effectiveness in addressing challenges related to the green and digital transition and fostering research and innovation in higher education institutions within Widening Countries.
The sum up the conclusion of the deliverable, higher education institutions in Widening Countries must get on holistic transformation pathway to fully embrace the green and digital transitions. This involves adopting sustainable infrastructure and green technologies, expanding digital capacities, and modernizing research approaches. Additionally, institutional reforms should prioritize sustainability and engaging with European Alliances will amplify the impact of this efforts.
